Tonio K.
Raik's Progress
Tonio K's garage band
$17.88
Who would have thought a freaky combo like Raik’s Progress could be lurking in the sunbaked grape fields of Fresno, Calif? Drawing on wild and woolly influences as diverse as Capt. Beefheart, Them and the Animals, these San Joaquin Valley boys—helmed by Steven Krikorian, later to reinvent himself as hitmaking artist Tonio K—cut an album’s worth of material best described as jawdropping! Cryptically titled gems like “Sewer Rat Love Chant” and “Why Did You Rob Us, Tank?” have been gathering dust ever since...until we connected the dots and unearthed this brilliant ‘60s album.

Rodent Weekend 76-96(Approximately)
$14.88
Twenty years, 19 tracks, a hamster named John Paul III. Gadfly Records is proud to announce the release of "Rodent Weekend '76-'96 (Approximately)," a 72-minute journey through some of the odder twists and turns in the career of cult rocker Tonio K. This 19-track collection includes rarities, oddities and spare tracks from Tonio K., one of the country's most unique and biting singer/songwriters. Packaged with extensive liner notes and song histories from TK, this "retrospective" includes several alternate takes from the long-lost EP "La Bomba," Mr. K.'s biggest radio hit, "I'm Supposed To Have Sex With You," and the much-sought-after track "Hey John" from TK's self-released vinyl EP. Other highlights are "Funky Western Civilization, Phase II," "Harness The Hamster/Rodent Weekend '76" and "Everything, Including You, Disgusts Me."
Ole'
$14.88
Recorded in 1989 and 1990, with a cast of supporting musicians that included Paul Westerberg (The Replacements), David Hidalgo (Los Lobos), Peter Case, Charlie Sexton, Booker T., Bruce Thomas (The Attractions) and producer T Bone Burnett, "Olé" is the album Entertainment Weekly calls Tonio K.'s best. Harking back at times to the crazed-rock feel of his early classics "Life in the Foodchain" (1978) and "Amerika" (1980), "Olé," runs a gamut of styles and shows Mr. K. at the top of his game.
Notes From a Lost Civilization
$14.88
Originally released on A&M/What? in 1988, "Notes from the lost civilization" was Tonio K.'s last studio album before he started writing hit songs for Vanessa Williams, Bonnie Raitt, and Wynonna. Like his earlier albums "Notes" features Mr. K.'s confused interpretation of the universe and also boasts some special guest stars..
Romeo Unchained
$14.88
Originally released on A&M/What? in 1986, "Romeo Unchained" was the fourth in a string of critically-acclaimed releases that attracted a die-hard cult following. The album was unreleased on CD except for a small run by What? The album features more of Mr. K.'s bizarre musings on life, and also boasts some special guest stars.
Amerika
$14.88
Happy nihilist Tonio K. returns after his critically acclaimed Life In the Food Chain with a stronger, even more sardonic record, Amerika. With tight riffs and intelligent lyrics, Tonio K. rocks hard on this one. But if an album's message can make one want to walk into traffic, this is it. Every song here espouses the end of all hope, the absence of values, the hopelessness of the human condition — all sung with intelligence and wit (from "Say Goodbye": "The signs are everywhere/Only no one even cares/This paradise is dying/Say goodbye"). Most notable is the Dada tribute in the final track, "Merzsuite," which is divided into three sections ("Let Us Join Together in a Tune," "Umoré," and "Futt Futt Futt"). A lot of fun.
Life In The Foodchain
$14.88
When this album was first released in 1979 (on Epic Records) it garnered incredible press (Stereo Review called it "the greatest album ever recorded!") and established Tonio K.'s reputation as one of the most thoughtful and outrageous songwriters in the country. Subsequent albums solidified his legacy, and Tonio K. is currently regarded as one of the premier songwriters in the country (having penned hits for Bonnie Raitt and Vanessa Williams, among others). "Life in the Foodchain" laid the groundwork.
