DOORS: LIVE IN DETROIT (2CD)
Once in a while, Jim Morrison would just forget about limits (he had a thing about limits, you know) and just keep performing into the wee hours. This early-'70s gig at Detroit's Cobo Hall was one such night: in fact, this 2-CD set documents easily the longest Doors set ever performed, stretching about an hour over the standard concert running time and resulting in the band being barred from ever playing Cobo Hall again! The band was working on 'L.A. Woman' at the time, so the vibe is very bluesy, though the show does include a rare performance of 'The End' with radically different lyrics. And John Sebastian guests on several songs, too-very much a night to remember! Includes a mini-poster, too!

DOORS: NO ONE HERE GETS OUT ALIVE (4CD)
Los Angeles disc jockey Jim Ladd's syndicated 1979 documentary on the Doors has since passed into legend among the band's fans-you can get upwards of $500 for one of the 150 four-LP sets of the special that were pressed if you can find one (hint: 'Doors' director Oliver Stone has one he used for research). Now, Bright Midnight has put the documentary on a 4-CD set that Bruce Botnick has engineered to sound a lot better than the LP set ever did, together with a 24-page booklet. All three living Doors spoke on the record for the first time since Jim Morrison's death about the life and times of the band, and the show featured unreleased outtakes and live performances in 16 different segments. Our recommendation: take this one with you on a highway to the end of the night.

DOORS: Backstage & Dangerous-The Private Rehearsal (2CD)
The day after the Doors finished their two-night stand at the Aquarius Theatre in Hollywood in July 1969 (documented on other Bright Midnight releases), they used the Theatre's stage to conduct a private rehearsal, and this 2-CD set gives a behind-the-scenes look at the band in full creative ferment. No audience, no roadies, nobody but the Doors-uncensored, unedited and unreleased! Includes 'I Will Never Be Untrue; Peace Frog (Instrumental); Blue Sunday; Maggie McGill; Arranging (You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further; Arranging Close to You; Close to You; Arranging Gloria; Mystery Train/Crossroads; I'm Your Doctor; Hyper Yachting; Build Me a Woman; Yachting; Cars Hiss by My Window; Money Beats Soul; Mental Floss; Jazzy Maggie McGill (instrumental)', and more. About 90 minutes!

DOORS: LOST INTERVIEW TAPES FEAT. JIM MORRISON, V.01
Two interviews from the beginning and the end of the Doors, respectively! We hear the band on a tour promoting their debut album on a tiny college station in Oswego, New York, and you might say they give the hapless undergrad interviewing them a hard time! Then, Tony Thomas of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation conducts a lengthy 1970 interview with Jim about his forthcoming book of poetry, 'The Lords and the New Creatures'. Only a snippet of this conversation ever aired, and Morrison is clearly relieved and excited to talk about something other than the band and his ongoing controversies; it's Jim at his least affected and most appealing.

DOORS: LOST INTERVIEW TAPES FEAT. JIM MORRISON, V.02
This unreleased, October 13, 1970 interview-conducted on the patio of the Doors' West Hollywood office by 'Circus' reporter Salli Stevenson-came just after Jim Morrison had been busted in Miami, and the controversy certainly colors this almost hour-long conversation. In fact, Stevenson had to agree to let Jim edit the transcript to insure the Miami prosecutors would not use what he said against him! But Morrison, as always, speaks his mind in this fascinating interview conducted right in the middle of the eye of the storm.
