CRESSIDA
Cressida/Asylum

Originally released in 1970 and 1971 respectively on the Vertigo "piral" label (Polydor's progressive rock imprint) and now for the first time ever as a
double CD. Original copies are extremely rare commanding prices in the collectors market of up to $250 each.

Cressida were a British art rock band formed at the end of the 1960's, with a sound not dissimilar to the Moody Blues, combining a heavy organ and
Mellotron sound courtesy of keyboard player Peter Jennings. This, combined with vocalist Angus Cullens singing, which was of a pleasing, almost pop
in nature vein, similar to Justin Heyward, Paul McCartney et al.

Their self titled debut is filled with hauntingly beautiful melodies and relatively straightforward and accessible song structures.

The second album presented here was produced by Australian Ossie Byrne known for his work producing the first Bee Gees album (their 1987
album E.S.P. is dedicated to his memory).

After the band split, band members Ian Clark moved on to a brief stay with Uriah Heep and John Culley became a member of Black Widow.
